Medication-Assisted Treatment in Norwood, CA

Conveniently located off Norwood Avenue and serving Sacramento, BAART Programs Norwood specializes in treating opioid addiction and dependency for adults 18 and over. The compassionate experts at our clinic offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) using methadone and buprenorphine, and as part of our comprehensive approach, we also offer services such as counseling, addiction education and relapse prevention. We’ll take note of your needs during the intake process and develop a personalized treatment plan that ensures your time with us transforms your life and puts you on the path to recovery. In coordination with the Sacramento County Probation Department, we offer treatment in accordance with Proposition 36.

Addiction Treatment Using Methadone

Opioid or opiate addiction can be difficult to treat because of the intense physical withdrawal symptoms. That’s why we use a MAT approach that addresses the physical aspects of addiction so patients can concentrate more on the other components of their treatment program. Methadone, a prescription medication commonly used for chronic pain, can be part of a MAT program. The drug attaches to opioid receptors in the brain without giving patients feelings of euphoria or a “high”.

To create a sense of structure as part of their recovery journey, patients using methadone come to our facility on a daily basis as well as attend one-on-one counseling sessions up to four times monthly. Methadone helps patients focus on taking the first steps in their recovery journey rather than managing physical withdrawal symptoms.

New Sonara Health Take-Home Medication Program

BAART Programs Norwood now offers the exclusive Sonara Health take-home medication program, a tech-enabled solution that helps build patient and provider trust while expanding access to increased home medications following federal and state regulations.

Patients interested in participating in the program must meet certain eligibility criteria. Call our clinic to learn more about the Sonara Health program.

Opioid Treatment Using Buprenorphine and Suboxone®

Another type of MAT program uses buprenorphine — a prescription medication that is typically used for pain management. Buprenorphine does not fully attach to opioid receptors, but it does help reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Another medication used in MAT is Suboxone®, which is a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone — a drug used to rapidly reverse an opioid overdose a medication used to block the receptors and will cause precipitated withdrawal symptoms..

When patients are on Suboxone®, they will not experience the withdrawal symptoms and cravings, and they will not be able to experience the “high” due to misuse of an opioid. Suboxone® is a medication that can help patients focus on their recovery more easily in a more manageable/human way. At BAART Programs in Norwood, we have a successful track record of serving patients by creating individualized opioid addiction treatment programs using Suboxone®.
